In the hope that this might help someone with their brick wall. My greatgrandfather occasionally wrote about his childhood. Among those memories he recounts a story about a snowstorm in McCook County, South Dakota, 1888.
"Again the anniversary of the great storm rolls around. 60 years ago Wednesday, Jan. 12, the greatest story struck the northwest. Three members of the Kennedy family froze to death, the mother and two sons. Joseph was found 6 weeks after the storm some distance from home. Many other froze and many head of cattle were lost."
