This "Bill" NAVES was a young farm hand for the Harm HUISMAN family of Bridgewater, SD. The Huismans had a duaghter born in 1893. As the family story goes, "Bill" went to Harm and asked to marry his daughter. He was rebuffed and sent away. A short time later the family learned that the daughter was pregnant and sent her away to Iowa to have the child. That child is my mother who was born in December of 1912.
I have been searching for 20 years to find out who my maternal grandfather is and only got this name recently, although I believe it to be accurate. Of course "Bill" could be a nickname for several given names.
Any other information you have would be greatfully appreciated.
