My grandparents were Henry L. Peyton and Adeline (Addie) Thom Peyton, who moved from Iowa to a farm in Lyman Co. about 1908. At this time they had a son, Frederick William and a daughter, Ethel Maude. Ethel's twin, Esther Mae died in Iowa at seven months of age. They had a stillborn son in 1908 and he is buried in the Kennebec, Lyman Co., SD cemetary. I believe they named him Leonard Leroy. Another son, Robert Henry, was born on February 20, 1915.(This was my father) When he was about five years old the Peyton's moved into the town of Kennebec. I would like to hear from anyone in the area who may remember the Peyton families. Henry Peyton, known as "Hank" had a brother living in Kennebec, named Charlie, and I believe a married sister, who's husband ran a store. I think the surname was Meckling, perhaps Ira? I have been working on my family tree for about two years, and am trying to gather as much information as possible about the early years. My father, known as Bob Peyton, or "Baldy" Peyton was a barber in Presho, SD for over 40 years, until his death in 1976. He is buried in the Kennebec, Cemetary, along with his father, mother, baby brother, younger son, Robert Leroy who died in 1943 at age of 4 years.
