Would you please check your books for a John J. Gilroy, b. Nov. 1856, or for members of his family? He is listed in the 1880 SD Census index for Lawrence Co., and resided at the time of the 1900 SD Census in Terraville, Lawrence Co., SD. He is said to have been the mayor at one time of Lead City. Family lore also says that he was a newspaper editor in either one of these towns at some point or elsewhere. He is listed as a merchant in the 1900 census.

His wife was Barbara "Nap" or "Nappy" (nee Holleran) Gilroy, from Luzerne Co., PA, and children were Philip H., Mary, Blanche C., John, Clarence E. and Helen, all born between 1882 - 1898.
