I am a direct descendent of Giles and Helen Charlotte Tripp Scutt. I am also a member of the DAR. My relatives and I have searched for clues to Giles Scutt and were never able to find out very much. Several years ago, I hired two seasoned Mormon genealogists from Archbald and Plymouth, PA to track down any information about him. They did find Scott Township census records with a Giles Scutt listed in one particular family, but the age was way off. However, I do think he was related to the family listed in the census records, but perhaps the census takers made a few errors. A cousin of mine was a real sleuth and she was unable to find anymore information on him. I am determined to find the correct ancestry of this man. I was also told by the genealogists that the name Scutt may have originally been Scull. In any event, the Scutts did come from New York State.
