Amy --
Just yesrterday I read part of a census for Baldwin County, Georgia for 1830 (very hard to read). I did find a Danuel and a William in Baldwinthat year.
I research Spurlocks. They often get confused and it is a pain separating the. Perhaps you can help on this one.
In 1840, A Columbus, Georgia reported the death of a Rev. War soldier reported as William SPURLOCK, age 81 (hence born ca 1759). He died in MUSCOGEE County!!!
I suspectr he may have been a Scurlock rather than a Sprlock, given the several Baldwin County Scurlocks and the fact some Daniel was born in Muccogee, the son of William and Rhoda.
Have you any info on Danirl's father Wlliam or any of the Scurlocks in Muscogee County.
I have some references to Joshua and a Presley also. I still have the Baldwin microfilm if you would like a "look-up".
Also Mial Scurlock did die at the Alamo. He was a son of Major Miles Scurlock of Halifax County, N.Car. The major left a will and I have a copy somewhere listing his children.
I have read that the Texas "fight for freedom" was more a fight to bring their slaves to Texas as Mexico forbade such.
I think it was Napoleon who said history was lies told by the victors.
