Just wondering if you're still needing information on your Scrugham family. If so, I may be able to help you out a little. I descend from Murphy's half-sister, Eliza Jane Scrugham Shoemaker. The genealogy library in Franklin IN has a booklet on the Scrugham family. I only copied the pages pertinent to me so I don't have info on Murphy immediately at hand but it's not a hardship for me to make a quick trip to the library.
I can tell you Murphy and his wife, Mary, are buried in Atterbury Cemetery G, near his sister Eliza and her family. According to his tombstone he died 3/17/1882, age 44 y, 6 days. Mary died 2/22/1874, age 34 y, 5 m, 26 day.
Have you looked for your Scrughams in Brown County? I know some of the family wandered back and forth between Johnson and Brown Counties but the majority were in Hamblen Twp., Brown County.
