James SCRUGG(S) married Ann PEAGLER 28 August 1823 in Montgomery County, Alabama. They were probably both born c. 1795-1805. Ann may have been from South Carolina and a sister of Mary PEAGLER (born about 1805) who married Jubal EVANS in 1822 in Montgomery Co., AL, as well. The Peagler girls were married by the same official, J. Loftin, J.P., which further indicates a relationship. What became of James and Ann SCRUGG(S) after their 1823 marriage? There were PEAGLERS in Butler County, AL, who may have been Ann's relatives, and some PEAGLERS migrated on to Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. Mary Peagler and husband Jubal Evans went to Louisiana and then Texas. Were the SCRUGGS of Butler County, AL, related to James Scruggs who married Ann PEAGLER?
