Many thanks for your detailed answer. Yes, I've become aware that the Internet is a dubious source. I got my information from the Mormon genealogy site -- http://www.familysearch.org -- and there is a contradiction in the site itself, in that it reports that John Scrope Jones Sandford died unmarried, of the plague, in 1646 and his daughter Katherine Sandford was born in 1652. That's quite a gestation!
