Someone just called me and told me I had his ggg grandmother's name spelled incorrectly. I had spelled it Scoggins. After making the correction, I looked Scroggins up in the:

Authentic List of All Land Lottery Grants Made to Veterans of The Revolutionary War by the State of Georgia.

George Scroggins is listed as a soldier, Residence Jones County, Georgia 1827 received draw in Carroll County, Georgia 6/27/1829 and Troup County, Georgia 3/13/1828

My ancestor's brother John Lester married Mary Scroggins in Baldwin County, Georgia about 1821. I believe she must be the daughter of George Scroggins.

I am happy he pointed it out to me so I could share this with you. George Scroggins has not been proven to DAR yet. Maybe this is your ancestor.
