Dear Margaret
I have recently discovered your site on the Scriven Family Gen. Forum and the follow-up from and to Kelly Joanne Scriven.
I am descended from the Scrivens of Alveley and would be interested in anything you could tell me about them.
My great-grandfather, Joseph Scriven, was baptised in Alveley on 24 Aug 1828. He moved to Enville about 1856 and was buried there on 17 March 1909. My grandfather and father were both born in Enville, and I was born in
Stourbridge on 12 Dec 1933.
From IGI and Alveley Parish Registers I have traced the male line back from Joseph through
Edward (29 April 1792 - 24 Dec 1869); John
(17 Nov 1765 - 16 Sept 1851); Joseph (7 Jan
1744 (1745 modern reckoning?) - 8 Aug 1820); Thomas (no baptism/burial data but suspect he was the Thomas Scriven who married Mary Wild at St Leonards Bridgenorth on 16 April 1744)
Is there any information on where the Scrivens came to Alveley from?Could it have been from Frodesley or Condover, or neighbouring parishes?
Hope you can fill me in
RegardsRon [email protected]
