Hello,

I'm a 4G grandson of Matthias Scriven as follows:

Matthias S. X Anna Sabin
-Oliver Gilbert S. X Clarinda Wiggins
--Charles Matthias S. X Elizabeth McDonald
---Gilbert James S. X Nellie Charlotte Kroeck
----Leonard Gilbert S. X Maude Esther Terry
Leonard was my grandfather.

I have a copy of that 1899 Bigelow letter, and have seen the Rhode Island material you mentioned. I also have a 1902/1927 genealogy by Sarah E. Scriven Stayner and Delia Scriven Wolfe, a McDonald genealogy, and a compilation/update of all the above by Gilbert James Scriven.

My great grandfather Gilbert James migrated to Southern California with his brothers Avert and Charles Leslie around the turn of the century, and I'm a third generation Californian. I'd be happy to correspond regarding family history.

One of the documents I have traces Clarinda Wiggins (Oliver Gilbert's wife) and Martha Wiggins (Matthias Jr's wife) back to the notorious Anneke Jans of New Amsterdam, and thereby to the royal family of Holland. The royalty connection is, of course, purely mythological, but I haven't been able to verify some of the stated links in the Jans connection, either. I'd be glad to hear from anyone who has knowledge about this.

David Scriven
