family of Rev William Screven
I recently found the following on the SC Archives online database. I am copy/pasting exactly as they appear in the database. The numbers at the beginning are what you would need to order the complete records. Elisha Screven is a proven son of Rev William Screven.

I feel sure Brisett Somerhoffe is the same as Bridget Summerhoffe in the previous record. Although no place is given in this record, John White and John Peter Summerhoffe held land in Craven Co between the Black and Black Mingo Rivers. Elisha Screven's land as well as the Commander land was on the Black River just south of the Black Mingo. As I understand it, Elisha Screven's (3rd?) wife was Hannah Commander. So this is certainly the same location.
I am not a Screven descendant, so I haven't ordered the records. But I think anyone interested in proving the Screvens certainly should. Just from this much alone, it would appear that additional children could be proven - perhaps Bridget wife of John Peter Summerhoffe and a daughter who married a Fairbush, perhaps the same Bridget as a Bridget Fairbush is included in the list of names indexed.
If anyone should order these records, please post what they contain so that others can benefit.
