Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Why so many states? The only answer I can offer is that Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio are all river states, and both Switzerland County and Dearborn County, Ohio, are very close, by river, to Kentucky and Indiana. The migration pattern for many from this region was from PA or NY (via the Allegeny) to the Ohio River and on even to the Mississippi.
