Hi Mayme, Basically get as much information with dates from your husband about his family, brothers, sisters, parents and grandparents then start working backwards. Once you get a date for say his parents marriage you can look up the reference and order a copy of the certificate direct from the GRO at Southport (www.gro.gov.uk) This will give the names of his grandparents and then you look for their births, order their certificates etc. Once you can get back to 1901 you can start looking at UK census info which is available online for the years 1841,1851,1861,1871,1881,1891,1901. This will give a lot of information on the family - where they live, where they were born, what they did. Try typing in "basic family history" into a web search engine like Google. There are a number of basic family history booklets available. Try the BBC website - http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/familyhistory/ And after 20 years you'll still be searching! Best of luck Richard Notify Administrator about this message?
