Ezekiel

The Boston Directories show four Ezekiels with various last name spellings in as many years, as follows:

In 1820 Ezekiel Scovill was a general laborer on Hamilton St
In 1821 Ezekiel Schoville was a general laborer on Broad St
In 1822 Ezekiel Scovill was a grocer of food and drink on Quincy Lane, Cambridge St
In 1828, Ezekiel Scovel was a mariner on Ann St

I tend to believe the first three were the same person, whether the fourth is the same would be doubtful as that would be quite a change in occupation. The 1820 census shows Ezekiel's household consisted of a himself (between 25 and 44 years old), a female of the same age range and a male under the age of 10. In 1846, there was also an Ezekiel Scovil of Marblehead sailing a schooner between there and Maine.

The 1850 census shows Ezekiel Scovel in Orland, Maine, along with wife Susan [MacDonald], and daughters Harriet and Sarah. This shows he was born about 1820 in Massachusetts and was a merchant. This is the fellow I want.

Does anyone have any information on the Ezekiels living in Boston? Did any of them have a son Ezekiel (the male child under the age of 19, perhaps)? Any Ezekiels born in Massachusetts around 1820?

Thanks for the help.

fred.
