It's certainly possible, although I don't know for sure. The timing is right, and Mary was used as a given name for daughters of both Joseph (b. c1819) and Nehemiah (b. c1820s) -- of course, Joseph Scott's wife was also named Mary. I do know that I've seen the Pugh surname quite often in the deeds concerning the Scotts and related families, so they were definitely in the same vicinity. Unfortunately, that's the best I have to offer right now.
What were the names of your Mary Scott's children? The names used frequently among Joseph and Nehemiah's descendants are: Joseph, Nehemiah, Asha, Margaret/Peggy, Jane/Jean/Jenny, and Mary. The collateral families are: Page, Carr, Holmes, Chesnutt, Magee, and Cooper.
If you'd like me to send you copies of the notes I have on Joseph and Nehemiah Scott, please email me directly with your postal address.
