Scott Family Genealogy Forum

My son and I are working on a local history project for our community.
We are trying to find who Scott Lake in Thurston County, Washington was named for. We have found newspaper articles from 1899 mentioning "Scott's Lake." By 1920 it is being referred to as Scott Lake. We have checked with the County auditor's office, a title search company, and the state library. A county book on place names lists the origin as unknown, but we know the answer is out there somewhere. Now we are turning to the genealogical community. If you have a Scott family that you believe might have had the small lake in southern Thurston County (about 8 miles south of Olympia) named after them, please let us know. Please give us as much information about the family as possible. Thank you.
