Alexander Duncan was born 1 Dec 1832 in King Edward parish, the son of Alexander Duncan and Mary Murray. He married 16 Jan 1858 at Turriff to Isabella Scott (chr. 28 Jun 1834 at Turriff, daughter of John Scott and Jane Burr). Isabella died at Quarrystile, Turriff on 25 Jan 1889; Alexander died at Hatton, Turriff on 19 Sep 1906.
They had 9 known children:
1. Alexander Duncan, b. 23 Aug 1857, d. 28 Jan 1942 at Turriff, m. at Premany on 11 Jun 1892 to Jessie Stephen (1864-1889) and had 5 known children:
A. Alexander Duncan, b. 19 Jan 1893 at Turriff (appears to have been KIA in France in 1917).
B. Jessie Duncan, b. 18 Dec 1893
C. William Stephen Duncan, b. 12 Jul 1895
D. James Duncan, b. 16 Apr 1899
E. Isabella Duncan, b. 16 Apr 1899, d. in 1899
2. May Duncan, b. 4 Jun 1859 at Auchterless, d. 23 Oct 1893 at Turriff (never married)
3. John Duncan, b. 7 Aug 1861 at Auchterless, d. 1862 at Auchterless
4. George Duncan, b. 28 Mar 1863 at Turriff
5. Isabella Duncan, b. 14 Jan 1865 at Turriff, d. 19 May 1938 at Turriff (never married)
6. Elizabeth Duncan, b. 29 Sep 1867 at Turriff
7. James Duncan, b. abt. 1871 at Turriff
8. Peter M. Duncan, b. abt. 1875 at Turriff
9. Robert Duncan, b. abt. 1877 at Turriff
