I ahve a brochure on the Sinking Spring Cemetery, site #16:
"Entrepreneur Henry Hopkins "Hop" Scott started off life with one pic and traded up until he owned much of the town of Abingdon. As a livestock dealer, Scott traveled to New Orleans and was veryy impressed with the architecture. He built the Belmont Hotel near the train station and named it for his wife Bell Jones Scott. The hotel's red brick exterior and fancy iron railings graced West Main Street for many years. He lived to be 102, and died in 1947.
I am not researching these people and have no further information.
