I recently discovered my 3 Gr Grandma's father was William Scott from Fayette Co. KY where Milinda Scott was born and I now have exact dates for her birth & death according to her Obit.& gravestone: B.11 Nov.1800, d. 29 Apr 1876. She was orphaned by age 8 and lived with her grandmother for 3 yrs then moved to Knox Co. IN to live with 2 aunts. Can't find out who William was married to, grandma's name or who the aunts would be. Anyone know? She married James Calvin Jordan/ Jourdan in about 1824/25 and they eventually settled in Jasper Co. IL around Newton. The family legend had her being the niece of Winfield Scott but her own son William Lewis's biography from Jasper Co. Historical Society had the answer of William Scott & so far I cannot find a connection to those famous Scotts other than entries well intended persons have entered making her the daughter of Winfield's brother. But her Obituary and 2 of her son's biographies make this impossible. Would like to find my William Scott- found 2 William Scotts in Fayette Co, KY on the first 1810 census with their families but my William would have been desceased by then. Also found some land grant info that could be my William as it was 5 yrs before Milinda's birth and could be him.
