You can access a user friendly database of the 1841/51/61 Census records for the Borders Counties here
http://www.maxwellancestry.com/census/default.htm

There is also an ongoing project to create a database for all 19th Century Census returns across the UK, you can find this here
http://www.freecen.org.uk/

There is also the excellent Borders Family History site that provides a useful map and very interesting profles on Parishes within the Counties of Peebleshire, Selkirkshire, Berwickshire and Roxburghshire.
http://www.bordersfhs.org.uk/

My interest is in the Moores of Castleton/Hobkirk/Jedburgh, the Hendrys of Eccles/Mertoun and the Robesons of Eccles/Greenlaw.

Hope this helps,

Gary
