William Riddle, born 1760 ? emigrated to US

My name is Susan Riddle Nelson. The earliest ancestor I can trace is William Riddle, born 1760 (in Roxburgh?), died 1840 in Kortright, New York, US, near Albany, NY. In his naturalization papers he stated that he had lived in the US since "at least 1790" a common declaration required at the time. He "wouldn't say" where he had emigrated from. He married Jane Dunshee in 1798 at Trinity Church, Manhattan, New York. She had emigrated to New York from Northern Ireland with her parents and siblings in 1792. I am visiting Scotland in the Fall and would be very excited if I could connect William with a place in Scotland and also the Dunshees. Any help would be much appreciated.
