I was searching for information regarding the Cleghorn family in Jedburg, Scotland and I came across this posting. My father's name was John Tancred Cleghorn and he has a cousin John Curtis who lives in the stables of the original family estate of Easter Weens, Boncester Bridge, Hawick, Roxburgshire, Scotland. The Manor House is now the Senior Citizens home. My father's twin sister wrote down some of the family history and it's based upon the book called, "Rulewater and Its People - An Account of the Valley of the Rule and Its Inhabitants" by George Tancred of Weens, published in 1907. As I was looking through the written summary done by my aunt, I came acoss the name of William Oliver, the owner of Weens (originally known as Windis) after William Sharp in 1773.
I thought you might be inerested in this information. I am fascinated by my heritage and am just beginning to do some searching.
