I have been researching the Afflecks in the Borders. Before 1750 they were registered as Flek (1600) Fleck or Fleckie, this continued
into the 19th century. There was a Margaret Affleck married George Scott in Hawick about 1812.(from MIs) There was a family of Flecks and Aflecks born to Thomas in the 1790s in Hobkirk (near Hawick) which I have not been able to connect with. Laidlaw is a very common name in the Borders even at this time.
