Morning Deanna
I'm afraid you will have to try to find more information from within the USA and/or Canada.
I have done an initial broad search on the LDS Family Search site, first for "Alexander McPherson" including variants of both names, born in Scotland from 1810 to 1820, producing 2,701 results.
www.familysearch.org
I re-searched using basically the same parameters; but with strictly with those names and spelling only (tick the respective boxes); and that produced 1,314 results.
Louis McPherson produced 270 variant results; and 2 strict results, the latter being down in England and much later.

Your Alexander (and any siblings) were born long before Statutory Registration was introduced in 1855; and unfortunately from your information, he is also unlikely to appear in the 1841 and 1851 UK Censuses.
For the likely period of his Birth, we are dependent upon the "Old Parish Registers" from the local churches, coovering normally Baptisms and the "Cryin' o' the Banns", rather than Births and Marriages, although those Dates are occasionally given.
In the case of Baptisms, often the mother is not even mentioned!
"On this
The [Square Bracket] contents are often not present.
I have even seen one Baptism where the employer's name was included; but not the mother's.
My guestimate is that only about 25% of the OPRs exist in any form today - and Scotland is very fortunate that most of that small proportion ARE AVAILABLE on-line at Scotland's People; and also the LDS Family search above.

The McPhersons are mainly associated with Argyllshire and Inverness-shire; but with the Clearances, there was a lot of forced re-loaction to many other parts; and of course, migration.
