Charles is associated with the Grimsay Boat Builders. He was mentioned in family diaries that he traveled to China and many exotic places.
Charles' mother was Mary McLeod of North Uist. Her brother Malcolm McLeod & father were also Sea Captains.
Where this becomes juicy, the family diaries suggested that there were Hiwaymen and pirates and that information in the diaries were omitted to avoid issues.
My thoughts were that pirates were common to Uist. Also, this group may have been involved with smuggling as privateers.
Does anyone know where I can find Sea Captains records or details of pirates on North Uist???
Love the mystery, Ann
