General Alexander Ouchterlony d 1854, Battle of Inkerman
General Alexander Ouchterlony , Imperial Guard, died at the Battle of Inkerman, 1854. He was the son of Robert Ouchterlony who died in St Petersburg, 1830.
Robert, b 1761, Montrose, Scotland was the son of John Ouchterlony, merchant, and Mary Ruperta Skinner.
Alexander Ouchterlony travelled to Montrose to vist his Aunt Henrietta Ouchterlony in 1853, as reportedin a Montrose newspaper, so we know we have the right man. Unfortunately that and the report of his death at the Battle of Inkerman is all we know.
There is apparently a church marriage certificate for a Roman Ivanov Ouchterlon, an English merchant,in Pochep, but no further information available.
Can anyone suggest how we proceed with this research?
Thanks
