Morning Patrick
You should try to extract more data from the USA Archives, as unless someone has an unusual name etc, it is difficult to pick up accurately in the Scottish and England & Wales Registration Systems. In that respect Scotland has a seaparate system from England & Wales (1 combined)
Checking on the LDS Family Search site, the only Thomas M Morrison I have found, born in February 1862, living in New Jerseey, married to Emma, indicated that his parents were born in England.

You suggest that Andrew was born in 1844, marrying in 1859.
That would make him about 15, which seems rather young.
Do other records stack up with this?
For example, the 1880 USA Census.

These are all the Andrew Morrison results for the UK in the 1851 uk Census, available in Find My Past; but he may have migrated earlier. Born 1844 +- 1 yrar.
