Morning Brian

I wonder if this is the 1764 William's Birth, on the LDS Family Search site-

www.familysearch.org

name:

baptism/christening place:

DUFFUS,MORAY,SCOTLAND

birth date:

birthplace:

death date:

name note:

race:

father's name:

William Laing

father's birthplace:

father's age:

mother's name:

Isobel Mason

mother's birthplace:

mother's age:

indexing project (batch) number:

C11131-2

system origin:

Scotland-ODM

source film number:

990728

reference number:

========================

If it is, these appear to be siblings and the marriage of the parents-

William Laing
Scotland, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950
spouse: Isobel Mason
child: William Laing

William Laing
Scotland, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950
spouse: Isobel Masson
child: John Laing

William Laing
Scotland, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950
spouse: Isobell Mason
child: Jean Laing

William Layng
Scotland, Marriages, 1561-1910
marriage: 25 Feb 1748 Rafford,Moray,Scotland
spouse: Isobell Mason

William Laing
Scotland, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950
spouse: Isabel Masson
child: James Laing

==============================

WL b 1764 is listed as the author of the appropriate section of the Second Statistical Acoount; BUT with the qualification that it was actually his assistant, James Ferguson, who actually compiled it!

==============================

The son of WL b 1764 is listed in the Ecclesiastes Fasti of Scottish Ministers, as also being a minister.

The entry also mentions that his briother, David, was an antiquariian, so possibly David compile notes on the family's ancestry.

==============================

I had a longer follow-up in preparation but lost it, hence this abbreviated version.

Alex
