Morning Val
The Scottish BMD Records are not directly INDEXED or IDENTIFIED by the Date of the Event, ie the Death in this case.
They (along with the rest of the UK) are indexed by the Registration District, Volume and Folioof the Registers that they are recorded in.
Thus with the time allowed to actually Register the event, they are only approximately in Date (and Time for Births) order.
Basically, if you want to find out the full Reference information, RD, V & F, the simplest way is to go to Scotland's People and do a Search of the Death Index, buy 30 Credits at UK£7, using 1 Credit to look at the Index Search Results.
With that Reference information, you sjould then follow the Link to the GRoS site and order the Full Copy or Extract, as a separate transaction, costing about UK£14, see the SP or GRoS sites for exact details.

There will also be information about how to order if you do NOT obtain the normal Reference data.
========================
I have done a partial check on SP
There is only ! (one) such Death registered in Scotland, in the three years, 1912, 1913 & 1914.
It is always advantageous to straddle the expected Year in this case, as for example, a physical Death late in a given year, might not nbe registered until early in the following year, ie late December BMDs show up in the Quarterly Reporting System in early January of the following year.
Then narrowing down to 1913 only, that one Death is registered in 1913.
If you have the information for the other fields, the Year of Birth and/or the Age at Death, these would help confirm, particularly if there had been many results, ie if you were searching for a John Smith.
However, always allow a fair range of variation, as the Informant may not have had the correct details.
Be wary of using the "Other Name" and "Mother's Surname" fields, as they do not have the range of "Option" variations that the Surname and Forename fields have.

Basically, unless someone else has been through the above process or has obtained the DoD by some other means such as personal records, there is no other realistic means of confirming the DoD that you have.
