Morning Reeboko
Normally having a precise Date of Death suggests that you have accessed and VIEWed the full Death Record on Scotlan'd People, where usually some indication of the Age and/or Date of Birth is given - although these are often not precisely correct, particularly for a person who seems likely to have been born in the pre-1855 OPR era.
If such information is not given on the VIEWed Death Record and/or is inconsistent, you should work back on the Censuses particularly or his Marriage and/or children if any, as these may help identify his Birth in either Series - if PRESNT; and alternatively help identify a small periof time in which he was born.
The Deaths of his parents may also yield some pointers, as may the Births of the three children. It seems likely that at least one would be born in the SR period, so you may be able to get a pointer to Daniel's Marriage if not an actual record.
