Given the Scottish naming pattern of children, there is a good chance (no more), that Robert is the Robert Donald who was Christened in the nearby parish of Old Kilpatrick on the 3rd July 1767, parents William Donald and Margaret McCaslane.

Using the same method, Janet may well be the Janet Brock Christened in Old Kilpatrick on the 11th February 1776, parents James Brock and Jean Donald.

Looks like Robert and Janet may have been cousins, given Janet's mothers maiden name.
