Afternoon Barry I suggest that you go to Scotland's People, where you should find a Scanned IMAGE of the original 1844 Marriage Record, available to VIEW and Download- http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk As the Marriage/Banns are prior to Statutory Registration starting 1855, you'll find the Marriage in the Old Parish Records (OPRs). The contents of the OPRs are highly variable, from cursory with minimal information, to fulsome with parents, employment etc. Without VIEWing that IMAGE, it is impossible to tell! ============================== There is an OPR Birth in 1829, Dalry; but that makes the bride quite young, although legal. No guarantees that this is the correct person! ============================== On that same site, look in the 1841 Census, for that 1829 child and any other in that area, aged up to about 30. Check if the Household Information for the respective family ties in with anything already known. You should also try to find Sarah and Hugh Goldie in the later Censuses on that site. Incidentally it is the only site with consistent access to the Scottish part of the UK Censuses, 1841 to 1901. ============================= By following through on those later Censuses and/or directly searching in the SR Deaths section (ppost-1855), you may find Sarah's Death Record. Normally it will have the names of her parents, depending upon the knowledge of the Informant reporting the Death. ------------------------------ There is 1 Hugh Goldie result with similar constraints, so it might be worth VIEWing that Scanned IMAGE first, as it may contain clues as to whether Agnes is still alive at that time. ============================== You should also try finding Death records for anyone identified as being Sarah's parents, in both the SRs and the earlier OPRs, as this may take you back another generation. Scotland's People is the most comprehensive site for Scottish BMDs, Censuses etc, being run on behalf of the Registrar General of Scotland. Alex Dow Notify Administrator about this message?
