William b. 1802 Reynolds - - family.
I am seeking any possible leads to my Reynolds ancestors.
Records I have of my William Reynolds, is, b -1802 poss. NJ.
Birth date from info on grave head stone and receipt for same.
Parents possibly David and Nancy Jackson Reynolds of
NJ or NY. Have only family stories to support the actual
existence of these two. Name David may be a middle name.
William left NJ abt. 1834/1835 and settled in Bartholomew
Co. IN. This journey may have been in the company of a
Miles and Lydia Cottrell Reynolds also of NJ and involved
stops in Ohio and Illinois. Miles was the son of James and
Margaret Peggy (Miller) Reynolds of NJ. Have a good deal
of info on Miles and James but can establish no relation-
ship to William 1802. They are found together during
residence in IN. and at auction of Wm's. assets upon his
death in 1853 in IN.
William married Mary Anderson b.abt 1821, "near Trenton" NJ.
Mary was of the John B. Anderson and Mary Burke family.
Mary moved with her parents to IN in abt. 1834 at age 13.
William and Mary were married Sept. 10, 1837.
Children of this union were, Richard 1838, Samuel 1839/40,
Lewis Gordon 1841, William Ardra 1843, Aletha abt.1847,
David 1853 and John abt. 1854. All children were born in IN.
William died in IN 1853, Mary remarried to Freedom Luker
then moved to Waterville, MN. abt 1860 with family.
My brick wall begins with the William poss. b. 1802 in NJ.
I can find nothing back beyond that. NJ as birth place for Wm.
obtained from death certs. of two of Wms. sons and some
census detail out of IN.
I have contributed DNA to the Reynolds DNA project within
the last year. These results can be viewed at the web site of
that project and referring to Monmouth Co/Kit 74905 should
anyone care to compare test results.
I would be grateful for any possible lead.
