Afternoon Chris You should start with the 1901 Census and also the couple's marriage on Scotland's People- http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk The marriage record should be available as a Scanned Image, which can be VIEWed and Downloaded to your PC. Generally Scottish Marriage Records have additional detail such as the names of the respective fathers, which is not included in the Search Index. Similarly, Birth Records have the Date of the the parents' marriage. So you can work back with greater confidence; and very quickly. Recently I went back 5 generations ina an hour. Unfortunately, scans are not available on-line for more recent records, Births after 1906, Marriages after about 1936 and Deaths after about 1956; but photo-copies can be ordered on-line, taking about two weeks to arrive.
