Evening Drake If you havenot already done so, I suggest that you try locating his Death on Find My Past, particularly as you seem confident that it occurred after 1860- http://www.findmypast.co.uk You would have to send for the extract copy to get the full details; but these may help reduce the uncertainty. ===================================== On that same site in the 1861 UK Census- MCLAUCHLAN, William W Head Married M 27 Clerk Iron Works Durham Durham VIEW MCLAUCHLAN, Margaret Wife Married F 24 Middlesborough Yorkshire VIEW MCLAUCHLAN, Ann ... Widow F 56 Formerly Teacher Whitton Durham VIEW MCLAUCHLAN, Joseph Son Unmarried M 17 Clerk Iron Works Crook Durham VIEW MCLAUCHLAN, Ann Daughter Unmarried F 6 Milliner Crook Durham This would appear to be his wife, Ann, staying with their son & daughter-in-law. ================================== Any children born to James & Ann after 1837 should also appear there; and the birth of the last one will help reduce the uncertainty of his Death date. The 1841 Census might help. =================================== This showed up on the LDS Family Search site, so his marriage to Ann should be available on the same site. This record may have the names of the couple's respective fathers and other clues, although unfortunately English records are not as fulsome as their Scottish equivalents- Individual Record FamilySearch™ Pedigree Resource File Search Results -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- James W. Order Pedigree Resource File CD-ROMS -------------------------- As a Submission, try to cross-check the English details on Find My Past; and any Scottish details on Scotland's People- http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk ======================================= I note another LDS FS Submission suggests he married Ann in 1825 rather than 1840, hence the need to check to the Official Records where available. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- James W. Only carreful searching of FMP can really clarify what happened. Alex Dow Notify Administrator about this message?
