Margaret --

I'd guess that your ancestor was a "private" in the Rifle Brigade, which was still, at this time, I believe, the 95th Regiment.

In the 95th,those in the lower ranks were called "Rifleman."

Those in the Rifle Brigade wore green jackets and black trousers, and called their musket-carrying brethren "The Red Army."
