Using the IGI on familysearch, produces two results-

Gender: Male Birth: 04 APR 1860 Annan, Dumfries, Scotland
53. BARBARA BURGESS - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Birth: 16 OCT 1855 Annan, Dumfries, Scotland
Both list the mother as Janet McTaggart; but the coincidence of Barbara's birth year and the location suggest that it is the same family.

As these are from a local record and both births are 1855 and later, I would recommend that you get the full, scanned versions via Scotland's People-

These are likely to have additional information such as Occupations of the parents, Marriage Date & Location etc.
This family straddles the change from the Church of Scotland Old Parochial Records (OPRs) to Statutory Registration (SRs) in 1855; but the latter did not become compulsory until 1874.
If you take a look at the Scotland's People Index, FAQ's etc, you will get more information on that change-over-

If that is the family, Janet may have died from the in the 1860s or 1870s. If 1855 or later, she may be found on scotlandspeople, which again it would be worth getting the full, scanned version.

This is tyhe only Barbara Burgess in another household, again problems with birth year.
Check whether the 1851 Census rounded (down) ages.
