Thank you Don and Larry, I appreciate your input, always helps to see someone else's perspective. The name of Margaret's father is given on her Marriage Cert (London 1852). I knew they originated in Old Deer and found George on the IGI, along with his marriage to Ann Smith Manson and their children, all of whose names appear to have been used by Margaret and her husband Rbt. Douglas Smith when naming their own children: which of course is intriguing if not proof positive. Obviously I need to acquire some documentation at this point, and for the time being at least the George on the 1881 will remain a mystery.
Thank you again for your time.
Renee
