MacLean/McLean

Looking for information connecting ancestors of William
Smith MacLean (McLean) to this area of Scotland.

Can't quite make out his father's name on his marraige
registration. It's abbreviated and in old script making
translation difficult. Possibilities include Ian, James
or the English form "John". Occupation: Dyer

Family oral history reports that William immigrated from
Glasgow. no confirmation of that.

William's nickname in Pictou NS was "Scot's Willie".

He married Margaret Ann Johnson in Pictou, daughter
of William Johnson.

Time frame for William in Pictou is 1860-early 1900.

Seek info prior to 1865 from Inverness area.

Possibly Harris.

Possibly Ross and Cromarty.

I have a lot of leads that go nowhere right now. Have information regarding this family in North America from William to present.

Would like information regarding clearances in this area:
when? Where? etc. Were there groups who went to glasgow?
Etc etc..

Thanks for any assistance.
