Searching for the parents, siblings and ancestors of Kenneth R. Mc/MacDonald and wife Catherine McDonnell. Their son John Kenneth McDonald was b. c1843/47. Kenneth, Catherine, and son John were born in Inverness Co. Scotland, possibly in or near the Moidart area. The family emigrated to Canada c1851, and probably lived in either Nova Scotia or New Brunswick before moving to Glengarry Co. Ontario c1855. The family traveled from Scotland to Canada with Donald Alexander McDonald, brother of Kenneth R. McDonald. Kenneth R. McDonald died in Glengarry Co. Ontario, uncertain as to time line, conjecture late 1870s-1880s, and the family thought he had died in Lochiel but other McDonald researchers say no. It has been suggested his father was probably a John McDonald. Catherine McDonnell, wife of Kenneth R. McDonald, died before Kenneth R. in Glengarry Co. Ontario 1860-1875. It has been suggested but not proven that Catherine McDonnell may have been the daughter of a John McDonnell and a Mary McDonald. Her son, John Kenneth R. McDonald named his first daughter Catherine for his mother, and she was called ‘Minnie’ most of her life. John Kenneth named his children: Kenneth Alexander, Catherine, Margaret [she was named for his mother-in-law], Anne, Isabella, and Sarah Camilla. Donald Alexander McDonald d before Jun 1895, Glengarry Co. Ontario, Canada. He was born in Scotland and we believe he was a younger brother of Kenneth R. McDonald. The family was Catholic. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you. Notify Administrator about this message?
