Simon Macdonald was born in 1775 at Kirkhill, Inverness, son of John Macdonald crofter and Mary Fraser. Simon married Katherine Fraser 1779-1847 in 1801 in Inverness and had sons John, Donald, John, William, William, and daughters Catherine, Mary and Sarah.Simon lived at Leachin in Inverness where he died in 1858. These Macdonalds came originally from Glencoe after the massacure. Donald Macdonald born in Glencoe, had a son John, who intern had a son John who married Mary Fraser born in Inverness 1740 daughter of Simon Fraser. Does anyone have any connection with this family. From Kirkhill John may have had a brother Sween McDonald 1742-1828 a boatbuilder in Clachnaharry, he married Janet Mckay 1739-1811, their eldest son John was born 1767.
