I would love to trade info on Samuel M Scoggin. I am his Great great grandson. To answer a few of your questions here is what i have..please write for more in depth details... 1.there are 7 children that i know of..I have their marriages if you would like them..One of his daughters married a Mcdonald, her name was Elzira A Scoggin. 2. Samuel had his last name spelled several ways but having seen his childrens death Certificates he was most always listed as Scoggin 3. I could be wrong on this part, but pretty sure: Samuel can be found in the 1930 Travis census living in the Mens Confederate Home..I think he was 84 at this time.. 4. There are conflicting stories as to where he died, one place is Comanche county, the other Polk.. Most of his daughters settled in harris county.. and he is buried at the Confederate Cemetery. This would be Cross Roads Cemetery Livingston, Polk Co, Tx. I would guess either Harris ,Polk, or travis. 5. I have not found the link as to if he and Demaris were cousins..I do know her last name was spelled Scogin with one G. On one of the kids death certificates it shows her name as dean demarious..in fact they all spelled her name different. I am still researching this.. I have much more if your are interested..be very nice if you had photo's..I think I have a few.. Thanks Fred Notify Administrator about this message?
