Schofield/Scofield-Pellington/Pendleton
Hello everyone,
We are desperate searching for a Schofield family from Manchester, England whose son John shipwrecked in 1841 at age 13 and settled in Magdalen Islands, Quebec, Canada, and married there in 1861 to a Marie-Anne Desjardins. He would have departed from Liverpool as cabin boy on the bark, 'Miracle'. He died in 1898 as they were moving to Baie Ste Anne , New Brunwick,Cdn.
His parents' names were John Schofield and Mary Ann "Pellington" (as given in the registers at the Islands) of Manchester, England. Would anyone know if this couple would be the same as the John Schofield who married Mary Pendleton on 3 July 1823 at St. Mary's Ch., Preswich/ Manchester, UK? or is there another marriage for a John and Mary Ann Pellington around the same time? And apparently the grandfather and great grandfather were also named John Schofield.
We have also discovered that they had two daughters, Sarah and Maggie, both spinsters when they died in England about 1890-1898 leaving an estate to their brother John which he did not return to claim.
Any information or assistance would be appreciated as the family in Canada have a reunion planned this coming summer.
Thanks in advance,CarolG
