SCHWENK of North Carolina &/or Indiana

I would appreciate any information about SCHWENKS of North Carolina prior to the Civil War.

I am specifically looking for information about Mary Elizabeth SCHWENK (b. ca. 1830) who married John ELLER (b.?) in North Carolina ca. 1850

Mary Elizabeth and John ELLER had two daughters:

Mary Elizabeth ELLER (b. 7 Jul 1860 in N.C).
+Presley Norman
Lutisha ELLER (b. 12 Jan,. 1857 in N.C.)
+James Starke Hay

Mary Elizabeth SCHWENK ELLER married George LAWRENCE/LAURENCE in North Carolina. He was a Union soldier.

Mary Elizabeth SCHWENK ELLER LAWRENCE and her daughters moved to northern Indiana (Starke Co., LaPorte Co., IN area)

Mary Elizabeth SCHWENK ELLER LAWRENCE/LAURENCE married Presley NORMAN (b. ca. 1839 in N.C.) on 1 Jun 1870 in LaPorte Co., IN. Presley may have been a hired hand to the widow & her children before they got married.

Mary Elizabeth SCHWENK may have also been married to a KEPLEY/KEPLER before she married John ELLER. There is also the remote possibility that Mary Elizabeth was Mary Elizabeth KEPLEY/KEPLER and she married a SCHWENK first, then John ELLER.

I would appreciate any information about SCHWENKs in North Carolina and in northern Indiana. Any clues would be helpful. I would also like any information you may have about George LAURENCE/LAWRENCE, where he was from originally, etc.

I would also be grateful for any clues as to why Mary Elizabeth SCHWENK ELLER LAURENCE/LAWRENCE moved to northern Indiana. Did she have relatives in Indiana? Again, any clues would be greatly appreciated!
