I am researching some murky Schwab ancestors, Franz Xaver Schwab and his wife Mary Pfister, who came to Manitowoc Co, Wisconsin from someplace in NY during the 1860s. Frank was originally from Hoffstetten, Baden. I recently learned that Buffalo had a very colorful mayor named Franz Xavier Schwab during the 1920s who had been born there in 1874. Do you know of him? Do you know where in Germany his parents or grandparents may have come? I'm trying to determine as to whether he might be some kind of distant relative.
