Hi Dutch,
I tried to send a direct e-mail to you, but it was returned.Well, all my Schupp ancestors were in Switzerland and Germany and the direct link to my husband would be from the early 17 hundreds back.I will give you a summary though. My Schupps lived in Kirchardt, Baden, Germany. At least some fo the Schupp families who immigrated to Kirchardt had lived in Siegenthal, Bern Canton, Switzerland and moved to Germany after the 30 Years War.Unfortunately, many of the Bern Canton church records have not been photographed by the LDS and therefore are not available to research locally.
There were several Schupp families of Reformed Church members who settled in Kirchardt. The films for Kirchardt at the Family Hisstory Centers that I have used are #1189145
covering 1650 to 1821 and #1189148, items 6-9 for 1780 to 1845.
People from Kirchardt did go to America about the time period of which you speak. There are several Jacob Schupp in the church records.A Jacob Schupp married a Weidler. Some of the Weidler family is documented to have immigrated.Susanna Weidler and her spouse Hans Martin Kappler and her younger brother Hans Michael Weidler and his spouse Anna Elisabetha Klein all immigrated to Pennsylvania.Susanna died in Bethal, Lancaster Co. PA Hans Michel Weidler died on July 23, 1770 in Salen Ucc, Leaacock, Lancanster Co., PAI am not certain if any went to Maryland.I have no direct information if any Schupp also immigrated.
I have the first film on permanent loan.If you wish me to get data on the Jacob Schupps in the church records film I can. Phyllis Chaussee
