In researching my Dreesen family history, I have run across the name of Cecelia Schumacher, daughter of Anton Schumacher. In case this helps anyone researching this family, I have a ship's record for the ship Belgique, sailing from Antwerp and arriving in New York on June 20, 1857. Cecelia was 15 at the time. Her father, Anton, was 40, and Sophia Becker (wife?) was 46. A Johann, 7, and Anna, 6, are also listed. This family sailed on the same ship as did the Peter Dreesen family, and although Cecelia is 7 or 8 years older, it is possible that they settled in Dane County, Wisconsin, and that Cecelia married Carl Dreesen in Ashton, near Cross Plains, Wisconsin. If so, Cecelia would not be in my direct lineage, but would be one of the smaller branches on my Dreesen family tree. Carl was the brother of my g-g-grandfather, Theodore Dreesen. Nonetheless, I thought this information may help some researcher out there. I hope it does. I would not mind knowing more about this family...I can't seem to find a cut off point when it comes to family history.
