Hi Chris - the Schumachers you refer to are my family and I believe that up to 4 brothers arrived in Liverpool in the late 1830s, although that may be a father and his sons. My mother (RIP) did a lot of research into the family and my sister has quite a lot of her information. Trying to trace the family back into Germany was problematic but I'd be willing to give it another go - I currently live in Germany about an hour from Hanover. I'll get my Mum's research from my sister and see where that goes.
